Central Dramatherapy Alumni Network (CDthAN) CPD events are usually priced around £20-£25 (£15 for concessions), however, we understand that these times can be difficult and the pandemic has impacted us all differently, it is therefore ticketed as donation. If you feel unable to pay the usual price you can donate what you feel you can afford. We recommend a minimum donation of £5. Please give generously as the entire amount received will be donated to Gendered Intelligence, a UK registered charity that exists to increase understandings of gender diversity and improve trans people's quality of life (www.genderedintelligence.co.uk).

What:

This series of weekly conversations aims for informal, intimate and honest dialogues between LGBTQI+ folks working within the helping professions, with an emphasis on queernessand creativity.

Each Wednesday during May 2021 at 6:30pm (GMT) you can access an hour conversation followed by half-hour Q&A.

Why:

Many of us, while training as therapists, experienced a lack of coverage on LGBTQI+ issues. That is why CDthAN has put together this series of conversations. To create a safe enough space to explore themes related to queerness. This can be useful for current trainees as well as qualified practitioners.

Symbolically, we call for the archetype of the trickster to open up spaces where we can be at the crossroads. Rebelling against the too-fixed and too-narrow heteronormative of binaries, the trickster is a boundary-crosser (and maybe cross-dresser too!), being our guide for these evenings.

Please bring to the space your art materials as, instead of focussing entirely on the screen, you may want to free your creativity with some doodles while listening!

Agenda:

Sesame dramatherapist Samuele Russo (Sam - he/they) will be in conversation with the following:

5th May: Art Psychotherapist Jessie Holder (they/them)

12th May: Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist Gareth Prosser (he/him)

19th May: Director of Youth and Communities Services at Gendered Intelligence Finn Greig (he/him)

26th May: Integrative Counsellor Delphine Bruch (she/they)

Themes of the conversation may touch on: being parent of a trans young person, trans and non-binary identities, questioning own identity and being a parent in a Queer family setting

Delphine Bruchuses pronouns she/they and identifies as ‘Queer’. She trained as an Integrative Counsellor working with adult clients identifying or emerging as LGTBQI+ as well as young people between the ages of 8-24: she also works with those diagnosed with HIV and with LGBTQI+ asylum seekers. Delphine is the Young person’s counsellor at Metro charity and her work focuses on using creative, person centred approaches with her LGBTQI+ clients. Delphine has also been working closely both professionally and personally with Gendered Intelligence since 2015, specialising in working with Trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming young people. Delphine also offers creative psychotherapy as well as walk and talk therapy for clients identifying as LGBTQI+ in her private practice in Kent.

Samuele Russo is a cisgender man who identifies with the umbrella term ‘queer’. Sam’s pronouns are he/they. He is a registered HCPC & BADth Drama and Movement Therapist and a trainee supervisor. Sam’s approach is deeply influenced by Jungian psychology. His core training in the Sesame approach to Dramatherapy is grounded in soul-making – analytical/archetypal psychological prospective. Sam offers Creative Psychotherapy in his private practice in Hackney, London as well as working as Project Lead for the Youth LGBTQI+ Counselling Service at Spectra CIC. Particular focus of his work is given to the trans community and the exploration of gender diversity. More info can be found at: www.samuelerusso.com
